I never thought that I would get to experience what it would be like to be in the home city of a team that has just won the World Series. However, that changed when the College Media Association Conference was in Washington, D.C. during the final series.
The Houston Astros and The Washington Nationals competed in an intense World Series, taking the series to game 7. It was a boring start to the game, but picked up in the 7th inning when the Nationals hit a couple home runs to take the 3-2 lead. Widening their win, the Nationals struck out the final batter in the ninth, winning their first World Series. How is this newsworthy? Well, Matt Adams, a graduate from Slippery Rock plays for the Nationals and will receive a ring. Who doesn't love an alumni being a part of the team that won the World Series?
The crowd chants "let's go Nats" in Chinatown after the Nationals win their first World Series.
A beginning above shot of the crowd that was beginning to flood the streets of Chinatown.
