SOL's Hispanic Fiesta

The Student Oganization of Latinos, Hisapanics, and Allies (SOL) hosted a Hispanic Fiesta as part of Hispanic Heritage Month on September 25. Those who attended the event enjoyed Hispanic food sponsored by AVI, listened to Hispanic music, learned about Latin American countries, and took pictures at a Dia de los Muertos photo booth.

Mapale was the second performance of the night, by SRU dance major students.


Students and faculty learn how to salsa and get in the groove of the Hispanic music at the fiesta after learning the basics of salsa earlier in the evening.


Students and faculty members dance in two lines along to the catchy music played by Gavas Beat. Those dancing followed simple steps to stay on rhythm.


Christina Donatelli talks about how the Hispanic Fiesta and listening to Spanish music helps her in the field of teaching.


The Hispanic band Gavas Beat, is native to Pittsburgh at performed at the Hispanic Fiesta for the second year in a row. The lead singer of Gavas Beat is Juan Jose Noguera.
